MICK MERCER'S fifth book concerning Goth has now arrived. Music To Die For is the biggest guide ever printed about the underground scenes in which Goth, Post-Punk and all things noir co-exist with equal splendour. Seattle's FAITH & DISEASE is featured in the book, along with a large photo.
It is 624 pages long, containing individual entries on 3,581 different bands, from 70 countries, with 183 photos. It covers bands from the beginning of these scenes to the present day and wherever possible contains full line-up details and discographies as well as unusual facts revealed by many of the bands.

QUINTO SOL "Ollintonatiuh" the works of F&D keyboardist JOAQUIN TAVARES (d.2006) CD now available for pre-order in the US via PROJEKT.COM!!
QUINTO SOL- The musical project by former F&D's keyboardist Joaquin Tavares (d. 2006) IS NOW AVAILABLE on Italian record label SILENTES RECORDS ( "Ollintonatiuh" cat#SME0824/CD) - Quinto Sol was the brainchild of Tavares and co-found Alfredo Feregrino who sculpted a very brilliant "pre-Hispanic" ritual project that incorporated complex Mayan and Ancient symbolism woven into a percussive, dirge-like soundscapes. Tracks are culled from the studio (via Elizabeth Ripley) and a "El Día de los Muertos" live performance at the Seattle Art Museum (Vocals by F&D's DARA ROSENWASSER) with Joshua Furman and Eric Cooley ++Bonus tracks include an alternate mix of the Tavares composition "Wallow" from F&D's 1995 CD Fortune His Sleep.

The Cancer-Awareness 2-CD compilation LET THERE BE LIFE: Vol. 1 is now available for pre-orders. "Lost My Driving Wheel," a new F&D recording, the first since 2003's Passport To Kunming, is included on the compilation-- others artists Jarboe (of The Swans), Collide, and a re-grouped ALL ABOUT EVE track! The project is the brainchild of Robert Frank, DJ at KUOX of Detroit, MI. The CD is dedicated to his mother Virginia Frank.

(gasp...) FAITH & DISEASE, after a 4-year hiatus from recording, are in the studio recording new tracks!! The "Passport To Kunming" lineup of DARA ROSENWASSER, ERIC COOLEY, Barry Semple, Greg Forschler and John Clough all contributed to the material...
The band has completed two thus far; "Afterglow" and "Driving Wheel. The ladder an exclusive for the upcoming compilation "Let There Be Life," a 2-CD set devoted to Cancer Awareness assembled by DJ-Rob Frank of Detroit-based radio station WXOU. Engineering tracks will once again be KEVIN SUGGS (Cat Power, The Shins, Death Cab For Cutie, Smoosh, Walkabouts, Dusty 45's, The Minus 5, Brandi Carlisle, Rocky Votolato, Band of Horses, etc.,) whom along with F&D's Eric Cooley, co-produced 2000's Beneath The Trees (Projekt) and 1998's Insularia (Ivy).

Unearthed, never-before seen footage of QUINTO SOL performing "Tlilli In Tlapalli" (Ascension) and "Tonatiuhchan" (Crossing the Rivers of Heaven) as part of a 4-part ceremony for the Day Of The Dead at the Seattle Art Museum. Quinto Sol was the brilliant musical offshoot of Joaquin Tavares (keyboardist of Faith & Disease), whom a year ago this saturday unfairly had his life cut short... Joining Joaquin onstage for this performance were QS co-founder and cohort Alfredo Feregrino, and F&D's Dara Rosenwasser, Josh Furman and Eric Cooley. Fire Dancer is Jennifer Quesada (JQ)

JOAQUIN TAVARES a very talented artist and musician who played a crucial role in F&D as our keyboardist beginning in 1992, about the same time we formed and 2 years before our debut CD, died thursday. Details are still unknown.. We are pretty devastated by the loss, he was out of our lives for several years, the last I spoke with him was roughly 2 years ago and he seemed as spirited and driven artistically as ever. His influence and the connection we shared will be cherished missed deeply...
